OPENING CEREMONY OF THE NGOA VAN SPRING FESTIVAL, YEAR OF THE HORSE (BINH NGO) 2026

Dear Citizens, Buddhists, and Pilgrims from all over, the annual Opening Ceremony of the Ngoa Van Spring Festival carries a profoundly deep humanistic meaning. It aims to express gratitude and commemorate the immense merits and great legacy of Buddhist Emperor Tran Nhan Tong – a wise king, a national hero, an eminent cultural and ideological scholar, and a genuine, exemplary practitioner. As the founder of Truc Lam Buddhism, He is revered by our people as the Buddhist King of Vietnam.

In addition, the Spring Festival Opening Ceremony is an opportunity to promote spiritual and cultural values, raising public awareness of the historical significance and importance of the Ngoa Van Hermitage - Pagoda Special National Historical Relic Site. This is where King Tran Nhan Tong attained Buddhahood – the Sacred Sanctuary of Truc Lam Buddhism. At the same time, it educates the patriotic tradition, preserving and promoting our national heritage.

Looking towards the spiritual roots of the nation, the Heritage Management Board, the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Quang Ninh Province, and Ngoa Van Cultural Tourism Joint Stock Company respectfully announce the Opening Ceremony of the Ngoa Van Spring Festival for the Year of the Horse (Binh Ngo) 2026:

SPRING FESTIVAL OPENING CEREMONY INFORMATION:

Time: The 9th day of the first lunar month, Year of the Horse (i.e., February 25, 2026)

Location: Bamboo House, Ngoa Van Zen Village

DETAILED PROGRAM:

- Welcoming delegates and Buddhists from all over.

- Ceremonial procession

- Welcoming art performances

Lion - Unicorn - Dragon Dance

Performance by the Buddhist Sangha

Performance by An Sinh Ward

Performance by Binh Khe Ward

- Opening remarks and introduction of delegates

- New Year greetings from the Executive Board and Local Authorities

- Festival-opening drumbeats, "Ngoa Van Ca" (Ngoa Van Song) chorus performance, and the Ritual praying for national peace and prosperity

- Incense offering ceremony at Ngoa Van Hermitage - Pagoda

- Partaking in a vegetarian meal
